The Card Kiosk was developed for a customer in the financial industry who needed to sort thousands of cards each day after personalisation into batches to be mailed to the bank branches. The customer works for many different banks which adds to the complexity of their requirements.

The cards are personalised by card type i.e all the gold cards for Bank A are in Job 1; all the silver cards for Bank A are in Job 2; all the standard cards for Bank A are in Job 3, all gold cards for Bank B are in Job 4 etc.

These cards need to be sorted for hundreds of different branches. Each branch needs a few gold cards, some silver cards and the standard cards. Previously, the customer would personalise the cards first thing in the morning and then a team of people would manually sort them into groups for branch delivery. This required a lot of labour and a lot of stress, especially on busy days. Mistakes occasionally happened and cards were sent to the wrong branches, leading to delays, angry customers and additional costs.

Now, as soon as the first job of gold cards has been personalised, the loading process of the card kiosk can start. The other personalised cards are added when they are ready. As soon as the system detects that all the cards for one branch are in the kiosk, they can be grouped and fed out. The system doesn't need to wait for the kiosk to be completely full of cards first. Cards can be loaded and unloaded at the same time. Groups in the output hoppers are separated by separation cards. The system communicates with the customer network so the necessary paperwork for the mailing can be created.

The Card Kiosk can also be used to create rainbow decks of blank cards before personalisation.
