I believe that exhibitions have been dying for years. Customers don't expect to have to trail around an exhibition hall anymore; they expect you to come to them. Exhibitors are tired of paying through the nose for shows arranged on inconvenient dates with little targeted marketing to their end customers.
Covid-19 has sounded the death-knell for the traditional exhibition and whilst some conferences may survive in a different format, many companies are learning how to better interact with their customers via the internet. Online factory demonstrations and meetings are the way forward.
Yes, we'll miss the parties. But we won't miss delayed flights, crowded trains, queues for the car park and overpriced sandwiches!
