This video shows a pre-shipment demonstration of a MISS configured for the manual sorting and packaging of passports. Two of these systems were ordered together with a passport sorting and a passport packaging machine to provide backup and a way of handling remakes and very small batches.
The system is connected over the customer network for input file management and reporting.
The MISS features a barcode scanner, desktop banding unit, laser printer, label printer and sorting boxes with "pack by light" lamps.
The operator needs to first sort the passports into the relevant bins and then package the grouped passports ready for dispatch.
The input file and job are loaded and the operator scans the barcode labels on the back of the passports. A lamp illuminates over a bin to show the operator where they should put the passport.
Once all the passports have been sorted, the operator takes each bin to band and pack the groups of passports.
All passports in the group must be scanned once more. Then the stack is cross banded and a batch information label is printed and applied to the top of the stack.
The cross banded stack is placed in the bin again whilst the operator bands and labels the passports in the remaining bins.
Finally, the operator takes the banded stack of passports from the bin, scans the label, puts the passports in a plastic bag and prints another label which is used to seal the bag.
This label is scanned and a delivery note is printed which will accompany the passports.
An audit file is created at the end of the job and is transferred back across the network.
